On January 6th, I’ll be celebrating the Feast of the Epiphany (a great day for writers) with the fantastic Matt Bell, and we’ll be talking about my new book, Picnic in the Ruins, which is a crime comedy about national parks and antiquities theft.
On May 9th, one of the first sunny days in a long time, I made it back to my old stomping grounds for a reading at the incomparable Elliot Bay Book Company. I lived in Seattle for a season in the early 90s and fell in love with that town. This was my first “in conversation” event, and I loved the format. The room was filled with good friends and new people, and the whole thing was a delight. It was over all too quickly.
On Thursday, May 3rd I was at the King's English to give a reading and sign books. This amazing independent bookstore has been around since 1977 (which makes it as old as Star Wars!). I've been going there since we moved to Utah in 2001. It's really a treasure of the state, with some of the most thoughtful selection of new books you'll ever see. I was so excited to be part of this community, and I hope I’ll be able to get back there with the next book.
